So, I was returning home from my college last Thursday, and when I just got into the bus,I got a call from my girlfriend. Her first statement wasn’t “Hi Babes,Hello” or whatever. Her first statement, or rather question was, “Honey, there’s Delhi Daredevils match today on Star Sports. You watchin haina?” I was like,no ya, I’m travelling home back from college and I’m en-route towards home.

Delhi vs Bangalore

Delhi vs Bangalore

She got furious & shouted “open StarSports.com for the fastest scoreboard in your phone and keep yourself updated, love, coz Delhi se hoon,########.”

This is cricket.Yes you may find awkward that girls, Yes GIRLS are following and watching cricket these days. I have seen many of such girls and ladies who follow cricket not only for the cricketers but also for the other reasons which we men follow.I agree I’m not much into cricket but when it comes to those India v/s Pakistan or final matches of India, I’m always in.
Because, even if lost, there is always a proud moment for all of us Indians. But there are some instances, ahh, infinite instances where the cricketer who didn’t play well, was criticized too much and also, pelted eggs, tomatoes and even stones towards his house. Like the recent instance of Yuvraj Singh.Agreed that he didn’t play well, but that shouldn’t mean that his family members are at fault.

Nevertheless, cricket fans are always in, for any match.Be it the 20-20 World Cup T20 matches, or those long white dressed test matches.Though, the enthusiasm of the Indians seeing their cricketers playing for the country is never less. Also, there are so many moments in everyone’s lives, when friends become gamblers. We also see, that some of our friends go against the country, only because they know, India’s gonna lose the streak. Now this made me recall an incident.

Being true, I was a very huge supporter of the team Kolkata Knight Riders of IPL. And I was always mocked for that because, KKR wasn’t a strong team. Friends used to call me “loser Bong”. And I really used to get pissed off. Then, in a particular season, KKR was in the finals.I bet against KKR, and the bet was of 2 Litres Pepsi. But, that particular day, I saw that KKR won. Gosh, 2 litres of Pepsi was given to the opposite party, but that enthusiasm till the last ball was there.

Also, After that, I stopped watching cricket matches.Though, thanks to my girlfriend, who always keeps me updated. And whenever she doesn’t get time to update me, she always says to check the starsports.com website, see the action recap and keep myself updated.

This reminded me of an incident, in which I was injured, but yet didn’t matter much. Then I was in 12th. I was returning from tuitions when I saw there was immmense crowd outside the Croma Retail store. When I asked the standing ones, they replied that, everyone was watching the 2011 Final World Cup. I also joined them, stood for sometime, when I found that I wasn’t on the pavement and I was standing on the parking lot. Then I suddenly tried to come back on the pavement, but, I couldn’t because I was already struck by a biker who was trying to park his bike. I fell down and, luckily there were many considerate people who stopped watching the match and they admitted me to the nearest hospital. After that, I was keen in watching the match even at the hospital because it was the final match of the World cup. And, inspite of being laid on the stretcher I was watching the match and then the winning shouts could be heard by the Indian team. It was a disaster, yet I felt happy that India had won the match.

India Celebrations

So, my dearest person of life, my girlfriend who is a big time cricket freak, always prefers Star Sports. Whether it is the channel or the website, she always prefers it. She is basically targeting the new features of Fastest Scoreboard and Infografix as she’s a cric-buff.And, as far as I am concerned, I like the Action Recap feature to see the moments and also, if I do get time I’d watch also the Zip Clips.

Thank You for reading.
