And it all started this way. An uncle of mine, went on a Europe trip for a total of 2 months. Yes! Can you imagine? Two whole months. I asked him, which places did you like the most, in Europe. I was expecting the common asnwers, which mostly everyone says, I loved Paris,Lisbon,Munich et al But, I found the same answers, along with, I heard the city Athens. I wondered, everyone goes so mainstream, but uncle found something unique in Athens. Maybe there is something in Athens, which he liked. Or maybe the Greek culture? Let’s find out, with my best friend, Skyscanner!

Athens, Greece! Ain't it beautiful?

Athens, Greece! Ain’t it beautiful?

And wait, there are more things to see!

So finally, I sat down with Skyscanner and started to plan, on how can we, go to Athens from Calcutta. And, it showed me multiple results, and also, cheap ones too.Yes, the flight will go directly from CCU(Kolkata) to DOH(Doha) and then from DOH(Doha) to ATH(Athens). There will be a 6 hour stop at the Hamad International Airport,Doha, which will also be valuable to my journey, because then I will be able to explore the Hamad International Airport,Doha all over. And, the worry was, the flight will cost me INR 58,872. It approximately leaves me with around 40,000 INR. And here, even Skyscanner couldn’t help me. Because it had already said me, that my limit was INR 1,00,000. So, I had to plan cautiously and carefully my itinerary.

And the beautiful journey from CCU to ATH Airport. One of the most cherished journeys!

And the beautiful journey from CCU to ATH Airport. One of the most cherished journeys!

The Qatar Airways have a beautiful service and it has an awesome reputation among one of the best flyers of the World. It will be an experience of a lifetime to fly with the marvelous Qatar Airways.

Qatar Airways features FC Barcelona ! One of the magnificent airliners of the world.

Then, will have to leave from the beautiful CCU airport towards Doha. And, Doha is one of the beautiful places to explore. Sadly they won’t allow me to go out of the airport. But still, even waiting at the airport can be worth a while.

Will leave from the CCU towards DOH for the Greece Journey! ah!

Will leave from the CCU towards DOH for the Greece Journey! ah!

After reaching the Doha Airport, will be waiting for some hours for the Athens flight, which will be so much fun and excitement because, it will finally take me to my destination, Athens.

The extravagant Doha Airport. or specifically the Hamad International Airport, Qatar.

The extravagant Doha Airport. or specifically the Hamad International Airport, Qatar.

After reaching Athens, first thing which will come to the mind is obviously shelter. I can’t spend all the seven days at the airport, can I? Obviously not. So, I started searching for a hotel, which would have beautiful amenities and which will be in a range. Hopefully I found a 4 star hotel, the Astor Hotel in Greece. The hotel offers most of the basic amenities and it also has free wifi which is much required for connection with friends. And the sightseeing places will be nearby from the hotel. And the cost is also not much, as I was expecting.
The 6 night stay will cost me around 28,011 INR.

Now, the question comes is, how to reach the hotel. I don’t know anything about the local transport services, so I will hopefully rent a car. But, wait! before that I will have to check my balance. So, Flight cost me 58,872 INR and Hotel bookings cost me 28,011 INR. So I’m left with around 11,000 INR. So, I thought of getting a small car, which would cost me around 6,621 INR,which is absolutely feasible. But finally, the small cars are absolutely cool because I cannot rely on public transport to roam the interior of Greece and the villages around Athens. So, I am still left with 5244 INR which will be mostly going in the toll tax of Greek roads and food.Maybe I could bring the pictures itself as a souvenir,eh?

The small car booking. It will be fun roaming around in my small car

So, after that, I will have to plan my itinerary. Isn’t it? So, lets start away, what say Skyscanner? Obviously SkyScanner won’t say no to me!

Day 1:Will reach Athens International Airport, only to see the driver will be probably waiting for me. Then will instruct him to drop me at the Astor hotel. And, on the first day will try to roam the vicinity and the locality of the hotel. Though I will try my best to capture pictures, but the eye view is something which absolutely cannot be described in the form of images.Delphi is both an archaeological site and a modern town in Greece on the south-western spur of Mount Parnassus in the valley of Phocis.

The Athens International Airport.!

Day 2:Will call up the rental car and then will leave for Delphi early morning. It will take me approximately 3 hours. There will do some sightseeing. And then will spend some more hours there only to return back to Athens, and sleep for a new day all afresh.

The amazing Delphi,Greece

Day 3:Will leave for Olympia. The famous Olympic Village in Olympia is a must-see. One can never say that I visited Greece but I forgot to visit the Olympia village. Also, one needs to see the Temple of Zeus. Which cannot be ignored at all.One of the magnificent cities of ancient Greece, which can never be ignored on a Greece trip.Olympia, a sanctuary of ancient Greece in Elis, is known for having been the site of the Olympic Games in classical times, the most famous games in history. The Olympic Games were held every four years throughout Classical Antiquity, from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD.The first Olympic Games were in honor of the God Zeus.

Day 4:Will instruct the driver to visit Kardamyli City, to roam around the Mani peninsula. Ah the joys of roaming around a peninsula. Plus the view is absolutely priceless, which cannot be shared with anyone at all. No wonder Greece has one of the beautiful cities of the world.Kardamyli is a town by the sea and thirty-five kilometers from Kalamata. It is the seat of the municipality of Lefktro in the region of Mani.In the Iliad (ancient Greece book), Homer cites Kardamyli as one of the seven cities offered by Agamemnon to Achilles as a condition to rejoin the fight during the Trojan War. The village preserves its ancient name.

Then below you see is the Mani peninsula. The Mani Peninsula, also long known by its medieval name Maina or Maïna, is a geographical and cultural region in Greece. The capital city of Mani is Areopoli. Mani is the central peninsula of the three which extend southwards from the Peloponnese in southern Greece. To the east is the Laconian Gulf, to the west the Messenian Gulf. The peninsula forms a continuation of the Taygetos mountain range, the western spine of the Peloponnese. Mani is home of the Maniots.

The Magnificent Mani Peninsula. Just imagine how will it feel when the breeze is blowing on your face.

Day 5:Will visit the Thessaloniki city and will try to sneak in a way if possible either to Albania or Turkey, if the Schengen Visa permits. Also will visit the national park and see the Stavros village. Will also see the other nearest cities possible and the international train station at Thessaloniki.Thessaloniki, often referred to internationally as Thessalonica or Salonica, is the second-largest city in Greece and the capital of the traditional Greek geographic region of Macedonia, the administrative region of Central Macedonia and the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia and Thrace.Stavros is a village and is a community of the Volvi municipality.

The Greek Turkish Border. Ah won't loiter around. Will just sneak in for some hours and then return back to Athens.

Day 6:Will visit the cities of Mycenae,Nafplio and a side-trip to Epidavros or rather Epidaurus. These three cities are the wonders of Greece. They are highly underrated yet they have their own charm of being nearby to Athens and having such a marvelous ambience.
Mycenae is an archaeological site in Greece, located about 90 kilometres (56 miles) southwest of Athens, in the north-eastern Peloponnese.Nafplio is a seaport town in the Peloponnese in Greece that has expanded up the hillsides near the north end of the Argolic Gulf. The town was an important seaport held under a succession of royal houses in the Middle Ages as part of the lordship of Argos and Nauplia, held initially by the de la Roche following the Fourth Crusade and then by Aragonese nobility, before coming under the Republic of Venice and, lastly, the Ottoman Empire. The prosperity brought by the asclepeion enabled Epidaurus to construct civic monuments, including the huge theatre that delighted Pausanias for its symmetry and beauty, which is used again today for dramatic performances, the ceremonial hestiatoreion (banqueting hall), and a palaestra(wrestling school).

Day 7: will roam the Athens city once again, till I check out from the hotel finally and leave for the Athens International Airport, back home towards CCU. And in this way, the amazing stay in Greece for 7 days will end.

And I would like to thank Skyscanner for my trip, only if I manage to go to Greece, some fine day, in the future!

Skyscanner,my best friend!

Posted: July 28, 2014 in Uncategorized

So,everyone is planning a holiday this December, during new year. Some friends are off to the resplendent Goa! Some are planning their trip to the magnificent Kerala back waters. Some are planning their trip to the exquisite Singapore. But me, nah! I am going nowhere. Won’t be back home also, for the new year occasion. So I was sitting in my room with the forlorn thought of staying back whereas my friends will be visiting some statuesque places all over the world.

Then,as I was surfing Blogadda , I espied the Skyscanner contest of blogging and winning a trip.I had a very long time wish to visit the grandiose place, or rather lavishly beautiful place, The Netherlands!.And then, I started off planning my trip to Koninkrijk der Nederlanden with my best friend,Skyscanner.

Schiphol, Amsterdam Airport. My Dream! to visit this heaven some day!

Schiphol, Amsterdam Airport. My Dream! to visit this heaven some day!

As all of you know, the first priority for every trip is the travelling worries. Are the flights available? What is the cost of the ticket? and other issues. Finally I managed to get a ticket on the date, which I was expecting. 28th December,2014. And the ticket would cost Rs 59919. Now you people are absolutely wondering, man, if the ticket is of 60,000 rupees, then where will you live? and how will you survive? Will you stay on the roads? Nah nah. Absolutely not people. This is just the starting. even if the ticket is of 59919, I still have some capital left with me. And with that very little capital, I will fulfill my dream to visit Amsterdam.

The Second flight is my preference - because I will be able to experience the Abu Dhabi Airport too

The Second flight is my preference – because I will be able to experience the Abu Dhabi Airport too

First flight on the Jet Airways from CCU to AUH towards my dreamland Koninkrijk der Nederlanden!

First flight on the Jet Airways from CCU to AUH towards my dreamland Koninkrijk der Nederlanden!

Ah,who wouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit the Abu Dhabi airport. That thing will be a cherry-on-the-top of the cake experience. Though I know I won’t be able to roam outside the AUH airport, but atleast it would be absolutely fun.

Final flight from AUH to AMS, in the beautiful Etihad Airways towards my dreamland Koninkrijk der Nederlanden!

Final flight from AUH to AMS, in the beautiful Etihad Airways towards my dreamland Koninkrijk der Nederlanden!

Now above you see, is the absolute truth in my words. The tickets are of 59919 INR. Which proves I have approximately 40000 INR to find a hotel and rent a car.And I know some of you have already stopped thinking on will I be able to survive. But,I know my ways. So, I started my search of finding a hotel in the cheapest way possible. So, I asked my friend, Skyscanner to find me one. And it did manage to find me a 4-star hotel. Yes a Four Star hotel, within the price I wanted. That is, the Hotel I booked that is, Hotel Mercure Amsterdam Airport. Yes,it is an absolutely 4 star hotel with one of the best ratings a hotel can have.Plus one more beautiful feature it has is, it has a free wifi connection so that I could share my feelings and sightseeing places with everyone. So, I will book the hotel and it would cost me around 21812 INR, which is approximately 22000 INR.

After that, now comes is the car-renting service. As I know I’m low on money I will spend absolutely wisely, and also, as I am travelling all alone to the beautiful paradise, I would see to it that, anything would be preferable. So, I decided to choose a small car, something which would be equivalent to the Chevrolet Spark, or like the Kia Picanto. Which would cost me around 10701 INR. And, the car will be then booked for the next 5 days. Starting from receiving me at the airport to dropping me back.

The Chevrolet spark, which is one of my preferred cars to roam around the country or rather, Amsterdam itself

the second option for me, the Kia Picanto, which will let me explore the paradise called Netherlands

So, now you must be convinced that, man, all the money has finished?

Hahha! Absolutely not,my friend. Absolutely not. The total cost comes down to 92432 INR, which is less than 1,00,000INR. I guess I do have some money for buying the souvenir.

And, wait, it’s not yet over guys. I still have my itinerary to share with everyone of you.

Day 1: I would land at the Schiphol airport, there the driver would be probably waiting for me outside the Airport terminal. Then after a long drive I would check-in at the hotel, and then the first day I would meet some of the friends and rest at the hotel itself. After, 20+ hours of journey, who wouldn’t be tired,eh?

Day 2: I would try my best to convince the driver, to go to Belgium for the fix of beer-and-chocolates ah. If he agrees then well and good and take tours of Antwerp and Brussels. Will click exquisite and rejuvenating pictures all over Belgium. If he doesn’t agree then I will switch to visiting Rotterdam and some other places viz. the flower fields at Keukenhof Gardens, fishing villages of Marken and Volendam, local cheese farms, windmills, and the famous blue pottery of Delft. And then tired and hustled I will return back to my hotel only to get ready for the next day of my pa-pa-paradise tour!

If not Brussels, then absolutely Rotterdam!

Day 3: Will start by the Dam Square, which is also known as the heart of the city. also with that I will visit the 15th century Nieuwe Kerk and stately Royal Palace. After searching, I found that the Waterlooplein market is nearby, and the Rembrandthuis Museum is just around the corner. After that, If I manage to cash out some money, I would ride the canal pass to feel the city and move through canals all over.

And along with, never miss the Royal Palace, it’s a suggestion by my friends living in the paradise!

Day 5: Morning time will share all the pictures clicked by me via the hotel wifi to make my badass friends jealous and ending up envying me. And as scheduled, the flight will be leaving in the evening, and then I would be all back the next day home, after so much of beautiful experiences and feeling the heaven called “Amsterdam”.

And, More importantly I would thank my bestie Skyscanner for planning and helping me.

Tata Zest.
They say, what’s in a name. But what if, the name is so attractive that you feel affinity and attracted towards the thing to find out the actual features of the thing? Yes. The name’s Zest, Tata Zest, like the Bond, James Bond.

I would like to review the Tata Zest as follows.

Design: The Tata Zest is designed beautifully and with a very accurate precision. Tata Zest has implied many first-in the cars, which proves that much background research might have been done on the Tata Zest before even its prototype was planned. The engineers and mechanics did their job of background research very effectively and efficiently. They applied three first-in car segment features which are as follows,
1.Daytime running LEDs.
2.Signature Tata tail lamps.
3.striking projector headlamps with LED light guide rings.

These three are absolutely NOT available in the car price segment in which the Tata Zest is being offered. After that, it also has a sublime feature which is not highlighted much, that is, it has 15 inches alloy wheels which are also awesome and has a sporty look.
in the Design part, I would like to give Tata Zest a 8/10.

Performance: Here, I would like to say that, as the specifications are included, the Tata Zest has an extremely powerful Revotron 1.2 version engine on-board, which is appreciable. Absolutely appreciable.Because the Revotron engine can handle high torque and it also works efficiently. There is also something more, in addition to the engine, it has multiple driving modes, namely the Eco mode,City mode and the Sport mode. Now this is an absolutely out of the box feature because they have their own uses. This helps us to change modes according to our convenience and drive the car whichever way we want. In this part, I would like to rate Tata Zest 9/10.

Safety: Normal cars in the Tata Zest price segment supposedly do not have airbags. Also, however awesome the car is, safety first. Because, a person’s life is more precious than the car itself. So, the Tata Zest has applied the 9th Gen ABS and EBD and corner control system. It also has included dual SRS airbags which are absolutely required for the safety of a person. It also has auto door lock sensing system which also senses speed and high speed. Due to the SRS dual airbags I would like to rate Tata Zest 10/10 in this section.

Connectivity:

The Connectivity System, live sitting inside the Tata Zest

The Connectivity System, live sitting inside the Tata Zest

The connectivity is something which I liked after the safety features of the Tata Zest. The connectivity is absolutely filled with exciting stuff. Ranging from voice controls to control the temperature and to connect multiple devices to the car and also reading out calls and sms’es and live image viewing on the touchscreen, I see that the IT professionals working behind the Tata Zest actually put the “Zest” in the Tata Zest. Absolutely amazing and one of the beautifully designed features of the Tata Zest. Here I would give Tata Zest a 10/10.

Overall, I would like to say, firstly that Tata Zest is a very beautiful car with some premium and first-in car segment features. And lastly that if the Tata Zest is in a price segment of Rs 4-6 lakhs then it should be a must-buy for every person who wishes to buy a premium car but without paying the price of the premium features.

and my overall rating for the Tata Zest is 9.25/10 which is an absolute buy! for the old and new customers both.

It all started by the simple contest of #ZestUpYourLife at the Blogadda community forums. Then, I participated and, got a beautiful chance to visit Goa for the Bloggers meet organized by the Blogadda team. But I never expected that this meet could be one of the most memorable meets of my whole life. Yes you heard me absolutely right! This has become one of the most memorable events of my life.

So, finally two of the 50 esteemed bloggers from Kolkata, i.e Me and Sammya Brata Mullick decided and we went together at the airport. We were so much excited about the event that you could see below.

Me and Sammya Brata Mullick, taking selfies at the CCU International Airport!

Then, after landing at the GOI(Goa Airport), we were taken to the Zuri hotels, with utmost importance and absolute care. After that we came to know that, the Day 1 event had already started! The itinerary was almost pre scheduled which made it more easier to plan and do accordingly.

After reaching at the Zuri Hotels, we were explained the next day schedule and then, I got an amazing opportunity to meet the social media professionals and the nationwide famous bloggers too. Firstly we were requested to gather at the hall where Ankita from the blogadda team started with the introduction and basic details. After she finished, she handed over the charge to the very famous blogger of Bollywood, @MissMalini who introduced us to the masterminds who were behind this exquisite car with awesome, or rather ZESTFUL features. The specifications of the Tata Zest .She did her work flawlessly and in an absolutely efficient way, which was appreciable.

Then the unexpected thing happened, that is, The world famous F1 motor racing driver Narain Karthikeyan came down to meet us at the bloggers meet.He explained the importance of the car and in what way the car was different from other cars in the same segment. He also explained some features which were implied on the car for the first time.

After that we had a dinner and then we were said to meet up the next day for the test drive event.

On the second day, after the breakfast we were explained the schedule and the other things and also the safety measures for driving the car.And then, we were allowed to enjoy the Zest ride. Not only once, but twice. Once in the Auto Transmission car and next in the manual transmission car. The ride was but obviously smooth and beautifully experienced because of the smoothness of the car. Then we were instructed to check out as it was a part of the routine of the Zuri Hotels. After that we had a blogging event which was the last activity for the day. After that the activity winded up and we were back on our way home from the paradise called Goa.

The experience at the #ZestUpYourLife event was absolutely awesome and memorable. All the credits go to the blogadda team who tied up with Tata Motors Next for this awesome event. Also the blogadda team left no stone unturned to help us bloggers in every way possible.Even if there were any hotel issues they came forward before the hotel assistants came. My personal opinion is that the event is absolutely a huge success and I wish to attend more such blogging events and socialize as more as possible.

And last but not the least, I thank again the Blogadda team for the beautiful experience at the Zuri Hotels,Goa for the Tata Zest event.

So, we friends were discussing and then another friend popped in, saying, guys, there’s this contest going on Blogadda. Something related to black. His mention already sent me to my dream land where I do wish to have a few things which are absolutely BLACK.

Now, let’s start with my first wish to have something black. I always wished from childhood to have a black iOS device. Be it anything, ranging from iPod to iPhone or iPad. It will be absolutely black, and then I will hold it in my hand and roam everywhere. It feels so much proud and awesome having an absolute black iOS device. Plus I’m a big Apple iOS devices fan. By the word big I mean excessively massive fan of Apple devices. I always wanted an Apple device. But never got one.

image

Next I would go on to my second wish. My favourite car BMW 750Li. It was once upon a time when I did get an exclusive chance to have a ride on this black beauty & beast. It was actually a beautiful experience travelling on the 7 series range of BMW. Plus black, is one of the most brilliant and eye striking colours. So, I wish to own an absolute black coloured BMW 750 Li.

Next I would like to talk about my obsession for watches.Yes I love watches. I have a lot of expensive watches at my home, but, I have never dared to see the Ulysse Nardin collections. Never in my worst dreams too.But I wish to own one of the black Ulysse Nardin watches. They look so exquisite and elegant that they are needless to explain. It is like an indirect indication of superiority, according to me.

The fourth thing which comes to my mind is, having a DSLR camera. I always wanted to have a decent camera, with which I can click innumerable pictures which would turn into memories in the future. Black cameras are always a treat to have in the hand. There may be many other beautiful coloured cameras and bright ones. But the black has its own charm.

image

Range of all cameras. Every camera is black. Don't mind the lenses though via-Google images

And last but not the least, as I love wearing formals. Yes, you heard me right. I love wearing formals, so a suit is absolutely must. A suit that will be absolutely black and shining all over, making me feel dynamic and attractive all over. And with that, black trousers are a must. Though, the suit is more important to me because, one needs to be attractive both, outside and within.

And, so these are the five black things which I wish to own someday in my life. I hope I will own them all, but maybe till then,I wish the dream does not fade away.

Yes, you heard me absolutely right. The zest of my life is my dad’s car. Though I haven’t got a job yet as of now, to afford my own zest factor.

Now comes the question is, why and how can a car bring zest to my life. It all started when I was 9 years old. During that time, Tata Indica was very famous. And as everyone had one, even dad decided to buy his own Tata Indica.

So, one fine day all of us together went to the shop and we were choosing colours. Then I spotted a Blue coloured model of the Indica & with a gleaming face,I shouted “I want this blue one.” When I sat into the car,my joy knew no bounds and it was one of the happiest days of my life. Though I believe it was just the starting of the happiness.

As I grew up, I grew more fond of the car and whenever I got time I used to go on long drives with dad. I liked the car very much. I always wished to drive it but I was a minor so he never allowed me to drive it. On my 16th birthday, dad finally gave the car keys and I was more happier than ever. I loved to go on long drives with my car. Because I never thought of anything else except the car.

Then a point came, when I had to bid farewell to my car. Because I jad to shift to another city for my graduation studies. And with a heavy heart, I had to leave my home, and of course my car. And now it’s since 3 years I am away from home. And my car is with his original owner.

I loved my car very much. I still remember that I did have good and bad moments with my car. Whenever dad shouted me, I used to go to my car and complain about dad. And I came running to the car whenever I came first in school as if he’s a friend giving me a hi-5!. He was more of a friend than just an ordinary mechanical device which is simply used for travelling. As if I put the life in him. A living friend. Sharing everything with the car was just like a part of my life.

Now, when I go home from college, whenever I see my car, only one phrase comes to my mind. My Indica,My Zest.

That’s done with the car. There are many things other than the car, which never fail to bring zest in my life.

I visit my grandmother every year. She is 88. She is paralyzed, about 75% of her body. Yet she always manages to raise her right hand and bless me every time I visit her.

Inspite of the fact that she is partially disabled and she can’t even get up from the bed, she always manages to be cheerful and live upto the fullest of her life. She was absolutely fine and she always managed to amuse us grandchildren only to make us cry at a later stage of her life.

Yet, I feel as if I have got a new feeling of enthusiasm whenever I see my grandma. She is still active and she does reply whenever I ask her, chinte parcho aamake (can you recognize me) ??

Next I would like to discuss an incident.Full of inspiration, zest and enthusiasm whenever I remember the incident. I was in school at that time. You may call it a good, or bad habit, but I have a habit of making friends wherever I go. So, I had friends in other schools too including my own school.

And then I was in Class 9th.I participated in the Inter school Debate competition and Swimming event and many more events. And in both the events I came first.

The thing which continues to give me zest is, when I went on the stage to receive the prize, my own school, and the others school were cheering for me. The whole auditorium was chanting my name. I was thrilled and excited. But then, it’s a memory right now. One of the most cherished memories of my life.

Next I’d like to talk about my favourite wallet. Yes. I have many wallet but I have a favourite Armani, which is a white and red coloured wallet. I have it since the last three years and luckily it hasn’t still worn out.

It was actually a gift to me by my dad on my 17th birthday.I was happy because I always wanted a very expensive wallet. And finally dad did gift me the wallet on my birthday.

Also, the reason for the charm of the wallet is, it has never been empty. Yes. Even in broke conditions, I did manage to have some money in the wallet. And otherwise, it looks colourful too, which always keeps me excited about itself.

And last but not the least, the final thing which can be called among the Zest factors of my life is, the cartoon character Scooby Doo! Yes, whenever I see Scooby on TV, I am always excited about seeing Scooby. Because it was one of the most intelligent characters of all time.

Since childhood, I always liked Scooby Doo and the whole TV series. And it does bring me excitement whenever I watch it.

So these are the five things in my life which never fail to bring me zest. And these are the things which keep me up every moment of my life.
