It was pretty much sad, to see the demise of bloggers in Bangladesh. Article 39 of the Bangladesh constitution is all about right to freedom of expression and speech. Where is the freedom of speech? I cannot see the freedom of speech anywhere nearby. Whenever a blogger is killed in some place of the earth due to his expression of speech, I feel nothing, but a fear. A fear of being unsafe. A fear which creeps into the minds of the family of a blogger which also forces him or her to answer their questions whether is he or she safe or not.

I was crawling throughout the internet for such cases. There were many such cases where people were brutally killed just because they gave their ideas and utilized their freedom of expression. I live in a city which is very close to the borders of the country, where people kill bloggers because they express their ideas in their blogs. I had recently read the case of Raif Badawi who was sentenced to death by the Saudi Arabian government. He was flogged in public just because he expressed his ideas in his own blog. Where is the right to freedom of expression? Where is the right to freedom of speech? Even this is a form of speech, my friend. Your blog is an open book. Anyone can access it or read it, whenever wherever they want. But, how can be someone killed just because, the person put his thoughts forward?

I also recently read the case of Avijit Roy who was killed by unknown assailants in Bangladesh itself. Where is the Article 39? People are killing people just because they do not accept the ideas of the person. After seeing such cases, how can a blogger think he is safe? What if someone comes and kills me just because they don’t like my idea? I wish the betterment of the people who suppress the ideas of a person who hasn’t even physically harmed anyone, by exterminating them brutally from the earth.

In solidarity with the bloggers like Washiqur Rahman, Avijit Roy, Raif Badawi and many others, who wanted to create a better world, but were either hacked or sentenced to death.
